Strep Throat is caused due to bacterial infection that results in red throat with soreness and white patches. It accounts only for a small portion of actual sore throats, but is quite painful. if not treated timely, it may cause rheumatic fever or kidney inflammation.
Major symptoms include: sore, and scratchy throat, trouble swallowing, loss of appetite, painful and reddish back of the throat, deposits of white pus, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck.
Treatment: Augmentin, Amoxicillin, Azithromycin or Ceftin
Note: Don’t confuse strep infection with flu. The white spots and redness in the back of your throat will tell you that it’s strep infection and not influenza.
